REV. DR. EDWARD L. CRYER
Pastor Edward L. Cryer is the senior pastor of Saint Paul Baptist Church in Oxnard, California. The native of Meridian, Mississippi, has been preaching for nearly four decades. He began his pastoral ministry in 1989 at First Baptist Church in Carthage, Mississippi. In 1997, he was called to pastor Unity Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served for twenty-four years. He is well known for his down-to-earth teaching approach and anointed exposition of the Word of God, with a very spirited delivery.
He is a gifted vocalist, prayer warrior, and compassionate servant leader.
Most recently, Pastor Cryer served as a guest preacher at the Western Baptist State Convention in Los Angeles, California, and guest preacher for the Central Baptist District Association in Santa Barbara, California. Previously, he served as Vice President at Large of the Ohio Baptist State Convention. He was the first adjunct professor for the International Seminary in Mississippi. He has been a guest preacher for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Youth Department, and the National Baptist Eastern Regional Conference. He has lectured for the Ohio Baptist State Convention, Inc., Progressive Baptist Association in Cleveland, Ohio, and the
Warren Bible Institute.
Pastor Cryer attended Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Meridian Community College in Meridian, Mississippi, and Selma University School of Religion in Selma, Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from the International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida. At Trinity College Bible & Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana, he earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a Doctorate there in Religious Studies.
He is the loving husband of Shirley Cryer, the proud father of Eric and Fanice, a caring grandfather and great-grandfather, and the son of the late Rev. Dr. Eddie B. Cryer and Jessie L. Cryer, currently residing in Meridian, Mississippi.
